Art Related Grants

Since the early 1990s, the City of Lewisville has awarded grants to Arts Organizations to support and encourage artistic programming to take place in Lewisville. These grants are funded using Hotel Occupancy Tax money. State law allows this use, up to 15 percent of gross revenue, as promotion of tourism.

The largest grant program, Art Support Grants, are awarded annually to established local arts groups for use in their public programming they produce in Lewisville. Eligibility for these grants includes a two-year history of producing public programming in Lewisville, attending an annual training session and other details as outlined in the grant guidelines and policy.

In 2012, Council approved creating the Arts Project Grants to supplement the annual Arts Support grant program. This one-time only grant is available for groups from outside Lewisville or for those not yet eligible for Art Support Grants.

The Artist Microgrant program launched in the spring of 2018, in connection to the adoption of the Public Art Master Plan adopted by City Council in January 2018. Artist Microgrants are available to individuals wanting support for an artistic project taking place in Lewisville- these can be visual, performance or theatrical arts related.
